Superboy: The TV adventures of Young Superman
On April 29th, the young people’s TV space - The Land of Adventure - will air Superboy, A television version that revives the popular comic book hero played by Christopher Reeve in the movies. This time, Superboy is played by unknown Gerard Christopher. The series has 52, 30 minute episodes and is produced by Alexander and Ilya Salkind, the same men responsible for Superman 1, 2, and 3.
The TV version follows the adventures of 19 year old Clark Kent, who studies Journalism at the Shuster University
Even though his powers are not fully developed, Kent transforms into Superboy to fight for truth, justice and the American Way against all evil and villains.
Young Clark of course has a friend, Lana Lang (*They mistakenly wrote Laura) like in the film, who is also enrolled in a program at the Police Department. (*Only In Season 1 with John Haymes Newton.) This leads her to getting involved with dangerous street situations that she’ll conquer with Superboy’s invaluable help. The evil villain on duty is Lex Luthor.
This is the second Super-man show from American Television. The first was played by William Katt in the series “The Greatest American Hero,” where a young professor acquires Supernatural powers when he fortuitously meets extraterrestrials. That series was shown on TVE 4 years ago.
